Beautiful butter-soft leather...similar to the leather of classic Coach bags back when they were doing simple tasteful leather bags. This makeup bag certainly holds plenty....it could hold a few lipsticks, a blush and powder compact, mascara, some feminine products, and still have room leftover. The items also arrived in a beautiful classy box with a suede chamois type cloth. The only slight negative about this is that the shape is a bit more manly than feminine. The shape is boxy...similar to what you might see for a men's toiletry case. But overall not a big deal...it's still a beautiful and very functional case. Makes a beautiful gift.
